not all fun is created equal

The Fun Scale

Type I Fun

Fun to do. Fun to remember

Just fun. You’ll always want to go back for more.

Boarding down a freshly powdered mountain, happy hour on a beach at sunset, kayaking on a calm lake in Canada .

Type II Fun

Definitely not fun to do, but fun when it’s over.

Your body is yelling at you and you’re questioning your sanity, but you’re rewarded with a sense of accomplishment. This is my favourite type of fun – to experience and to photograph.

You’ll go back for more but you’ll only make that decision after it’s over.

This is by far the best sort of fun to photograph!

Rock climbing at or above your max grade, hiking up that massive mountain to see the incredible view, anything that involves being cold without getting frostbite.

Type III Fun

Not fun to do or fun to look back on. Just shit, basically.

It wasn’t fun while you were doing it, and it isn’t fun to remember. You might learn something, but whose stupid idea was this anyway? You’ve got a crazy story but you never want to do it again.

Hiking through a blizzard, getting lost without enough water, anything that involves an injury.
